iPod Classic Repair + Upgrade

Have you ever had an old device that you just can’t seem to part with? For many of us, our old iPod Classics hold a special place in our hearts and memories. When one of our customers came to us with an iPod Classic (120GB) that was freezing and showing the sad iPod graphic, we knew we had to help.

If you’re an iPod classic owner, you know how reliable and durable these devices can be. But even the best electronic devices can experience issues over time. After conducting a diagnosis, we were able to identify the root cause of the problem: the iPod needed a new hard drive and a new battery. Given that these iPods were released back in 2006, it’s not surprising that they might need a little TLC. The hard drive in this one lasted over 12 years, which is a long time for any hard drive.

Fortunately, the repair process on these iPods is very straightforward. We were able to quote a turnaround time of 2-3 days and got the parts on order and started work on the repair. First, we opened up the iPod and removed the old hard drive and battery. Then, we installed a new SSD conversion kit with a 256GB Micro SD card and replaced the bad battery with a new one. Finally, we connected the iPod to a computer to get it restored and ready for use.

Overall, this was a standard iPod upgrade/repair for us, but there is something fun about refurbishing these iPods. The end result was a rejuvenated iPod classic, with increased storage capacity (from 120GB to 256GB!) and a new extended battery.

So, if you have an older iPod classic that’s starting to show its age, don’t despair! With a little Micro SD magic and some basic repair steps, it’s possible to breathe new life into your beloved device. And if you’re in need of repair services for any Apple device in your life, don’t hesitate to give us a call. We’re always here to help.
